This form of widely practised Kung Fu is renowned for developing agility, strong limbs and power in its strikes. Praying Mantis or Tang Lang Kung Fu is said to have been developed by Wong Long of the early and mid-17 th century who based the style on the best techniques of eighteen other Kung Fu styles.
Perhaps, not surprisingly, Mantis Kung Fu today has many branches (Seven Star, Eight Step etc) and the founder of Wutan UK learnt various styles from the most notable teachers of his time including Master Huang Chin Hong , a disciple of Lo Kuang Yee who was sent to take charge of the Chin Woo School of Malaysia.
Furthermore, Master Wu Song Fa is an expert of the Seven Star system under the Chin Woo School , and the Liu He (6 Harmonies) styles of Mantis Kung Fu of the Ding Ze Cheng lineage through discipleship. The central two figures pictured above are Great grandmaster, Ding Ze Cheng and one of his top disciples, Grandmaster Liu Yun Chiao (in black). All UK students of Wutan are carefully supervised in the approved techniques of Praying Mantis Kung Fu as taught by Sifu They and his teacher, Master Wu.
